Married 1945. Dudley Newton was the son of Frank Newton. The marriage ended in divorce in 1971.
Petrie studied at Newnham College, Cambridge (MA 1945).

Catherine (Kate) Priscilla Newton was born on October 18, 1946. She married Louis Marcelin-Rice and they had two sons and a daughter - Sebastian Marcelin-Rice, who married Isabella ? on 7 August 2017, Hugh Marcelin-Rice and Allegra.
Petrie Caroline Newton was born on February 2, 1949. She married Spyros Harbouri and they had no children.
Richard James Newton was born on April 2, 1952. He married Jane Rosch on November 1 1990. They have wo daughters. Hannah Ruby Rosch Newton who was born on 2 October 1993 and Isabelle Pearl Newton who was born on 12 November 1996 and married Samuel Evan Graydon. They have a son Isaac David Graydon who was born on 29 January 1991
Mary Charlotte Newton was born on December 6, 1953. She married Timothy Randles who died on January 10, 2017. They had a daughter Petrie Randles, who married Jake O’Hear and had two children (Wilfred O’Hear and Phoebe O'Hear) and a son Hugo Randles.
Thomas Hugo Newton was born on August 6, 1958. He married Laura Shapiro and had a son Fraser Luc Newton who was born on 17 January 1986. They divorced and Thomas married secondly Stephia Kascher and had a daughter Reya Madalena Newton who was born on 28 July 2013. This marriage also ended in divorce.
