Notes for Noel Edward Grimani Townsend
Noel was born at 2 Oxford Villas, Waltham Abbey, Essex and educated at Dean Close School, Cheltenham. He was commissioned in the First World War and later worked as a civil engineer in Egypt before his mental health deteriorated. Subsequent years were spent in various mental institutions. He died in Pen-y-val Hospital, Abergavenny.
Noel is buried in the churchyard at St Mabli's Church (1), Llanvapley, where his father was the Rector before he died.
