Notes for Celia Hume Townshend
Married 15 April 1974. Rt Rev Nigel Simeon McCulloch was the son of P/O Kenneth McCulloch of Liverpool.
Educated at Liverpool College Nigel read theology at Selwyn College, Cambridge before undertaking training for the ministry at Cuddesdon College, Oxford. He was ordained in 1966 at Chester Cathedral and held a number of church appointments before being appointed Suffragan Bishop of Taunton in 1986. In 1992 he became Diocesan Bishop of Wakefield and was appointed Lord High Almoner in 1997. Nigel was installed Lord Bishop of Manchester in February 2003. He holds the Chair of the Council of Christians and Jews.
