Notes for Lilian Townshend
The April 1901 Irish Census and the April 1911 Irish Census show that Lilian was born in England and was living with her parents at Carrigfadda, Skibbereen, Co Cork.
In the book The Memoirs and Diaries of Judith Isobel Chavasse by Dr Rachel Finnegan and published in 2024 there are several references to Lilian visiting Judith Chavasse at Seafield, Castletownshend; the first being 4 March 1908, when she stayed for a week. The last mention is in February 1915 when Lilian stayed at Seafield with her sister Kathleen, both grief stricken at the loss of their father in January and worried about where they would live once they had to move out of the rectory in Skibbereen."*
