Margaret was born in Dunmanway, Co Cork.
Following the death of her parents in 1847 shortly after their arrival in Canada from Ireland, Margaret, then aged 8, was presumably placed in care with guardians appointed by the authorities in Ontario; as were her younger siblings.
Strangely the 1852 Canadian Census does not show Margaret as being in care but it does show her sister Eliza [3B08] and brother Thomas [3B09]
Married Unknown Snell ca 1865.
The Extract from Lewis' Topographical Dictionary 1837 for Fanlobbus (Dunmanway) is given in Margaret's 'Scrapbook' and shows her father living at Laurel Mount - presumably where Margaret was born.
The son Henry Snell was born ca 1870 and died ca 1950 at St Marys Ontraio.
