Notes for Martha Alicia Maude Townshend
Martha (sometimes referred to as Maude) was born in Dublin and baptized at St Peter's Church on 19 March 1858.
The April 1901 Irish Census records Maude as living with her parents, eight siblings and five domestic staff in house 798 in Burlington Road, Pembroke West, Dublin. The April 1911 Irish Census records Maude as a 'Suffragist', aged 53, living at 32 Hollybank Avenue, Dublin with a 33 year old German woman called Karolina Bart. Her house consisted of six rooms. In the column of the census calling for 'Infirmities' to be entered Maude has written 'Unenfranchised'.
Nothing further is known about Maude. She is shown as Alice Maude in 'An Officer of the Long Parliament'.
