Notes for Arthur Barry Townsend
Nothing is known about Arthur's wife except that her Christian name was Sydney and she came from Dublin.
Arthur was a Captain in 10th Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers.
The April 1901 Irish Census and the April 1911 Irish Census both record Arthur as living at 14 Cathedral Close, Armagh, with his parents and his brother Richard. The 1901 Census shows him as a scholar but nothing is given under the heading 'Occupation' in 1911. The house consisted of 19 rooms with a coach house and stable.
The abstract in the PRONI Calendar of wills records "Townsend Arthur Barry of 20 Saint Georges Road Bedford county Bedford died 29 September 1939 Probate London 15 December 1939 to Sydney Townsend the widow. Effects in Northern Ireland £313 12s. 9d. Re-sealed Belfast 20 March 1940."
