Notes for Sophia Elizabeth Townsend
Sophia was born in Kerry.
Married early 1907 in Cork. Rev William Henry Tozer (1) came from Lincolnshire and was Rector St James', Dauntsey (2), Wiltshire 1924-38.
The April 1901 Irish Census records that Sophia, aged 26, was a spinster living with her parents at 11 Westbourne Terrace, Queenstown. She is not shown in the 1911 Irish Census and this would indicate that she was married by then and living in England.
Sophia lived at Christian Malford, near Sutton Benger, Wiltshire for about 8 years after William died before moving into a nursing home in Bath where she died aged 72.
(1) William was born in 1871 and died on 3 May 1938. His headstone can be seen in St James' graveyard at images 286 and 287.
