Notes for Blanche Hermione Townshend
The 1911 Irish Census records that Blanche, aged 9, was living at Derry, Rosscarbery, Co Cork, with her parents, her two sisters, two children’s nurses, a ladies maid, cook and three domestic servants. Derry consisted of 22 rooms, 11 stables, a coach house, a harness room and a further 22 outbuildings.
Married 16th April 1925. John Salkeld Tetley (1) was the younger son of Mr and Mrs Charles William Tetley of 28 Lansdowne Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent. The marriage was dissolved by divorce in 1935.
The daughter Mollie Valerie Townshend Tetley (2) married Colonel Peter Garratt and had a daughter - Geraline Margaret Garrat (3).
(1) John was born on 12 January 1901 at Bocking, Braintree, Essex. He was a Senior Information Officer at the Central Office of Information and was appointed MBE on 1 January 1957 (London Gazette 40960 page 21) . He died in December 1986 at Worthing, Sussex.
(2) Mollie was born on 19 February 1926.
(3) Geraline was born on 21 December 1953.
