Notes for Geraldine Newman Townsend
Geraldine was born in Cork.
Married 1894. Reginald Neill (1) was an architect from Co Down.
The April 1901 Irish Census shows Geraldine and her husband living at house 11 in Poleglass, Derryaghey, Antrim with their children, a governess and three domestic staff. The house consisted of 21 rooms and no outbuildings.
The April 1911 Irish Census records Geraldine, aged 42, living at house 30 Poleglass, with her husband, thirteen year old daughter, a governess and three servants. The house consisted of eighteen rooms, two stables, a coach house and a further eight outbuildings. The Census also records a second surviving child; this is presumably Reginald who was probably away at boarding school at the time.
In both the 1901 and 1911 Census Reginald is shown as owning two other small houses in Poleglass.
Of the children, Reginald was born in England in 1895 and Frances was born in Co Down in 1898.
