Elizabeth's marriage was announced in 'The Argus' on 1 May 1880.
"McMaster-Townsend. On the 27th ult, at St John's Church, Corowa, NSW by the Rev H E Thomson, Robert D McMaster MD, F.R.O.S. eldest son of William McMaster Esq. Upper Parliament St, Liverpool to Victoria Becher Townsend, fourth daughter of the late Samuel Townsend Esq, Dereeny House(1) & St Kames, Ireland, Co Cork."
Her death was announced in 'The Argus' on 29 June 1880 and recorded by Agnes Townsend [334] in her diary - "1880 June 11th Lizzie McMasters (Townsend) died in Australia - 6 weeks after being married."
"DEATHS~McMaster, on the 11th inst, at Adelong, NSW, Elizabeth Victoria Becher, wife of R.D. McMaster aged 24 years."
(1) The entry for Dereeny House in the University of Galway Landed Estates Database records "This property was built sometime after the 1st edition Ordnance map was published. In the 1850s Samuel Townsend held a property in fee at Derreeny, valued at £6 10s. Labelled Derreeny House on the 25-inch Ordnance Survey map, it is still extant and occupied."
