Alicia was born at Harbour View (?), Co Cork. Along with her sister Maria, she died of ‘Shipping Fever’ (typhoid) during quarantine at Toronto.
Page 638 of the Calendar of Wills and Administration 1858-1922 in the National Archives of Ireland records that Letters of Administration on the personal estate of "Alicia Townsend late of Toronto Canada", who died on 30 June 1847 were granted at the Principal Registry on 23 May 1873 to "John Emanuel Hughes of 13 Suffolk Street Dublin Solicitor the Attorney of the Brothers and Sisters of said deceased".
