In his Manuscript Notes on various members of the family John FitzHenry Townshend [250] wrote the following about Barbara - "Barbara of ‘Barbara’s Garden’ daughter of Richard Townsend died unmarried. She seems to have been favourite with everyone. Dr? remembered her and used to say he never saw people like her now for appearance, manners etc etc."
