Re: diff_scheme, Growth Rate and Amplitudes
Hi all, Sorry to post again on an old topic but I've managed to get myself a bit confused about point 3 - the signs of eta and Im(sigma). I note that eta is defined in Stellingwerf 1978, such that eta > 0 is unstable and eta <0 is stable. I've also seen the definition above used, where eta = - Im(si...

Re: Nonadiabatic computation of mixed modes
As requested: initial model (which I inherited), an example inlist (I've tried uncommenting the last two lines of &controls to change the grid), and the final model from which I take the pulsation data. Thanks!

Nonadiabatic computation of mixed modes
Hi all, I'm looking at whether non-adiabatic effects are important in a particular class of helium core-burning stars. In the adiabatic case the calculations look fine, but in the non-adiabatic case I get very small chi values (~1e-20) and in some cases, non-monotonic mode orders. I understand that ...

Mode observability
Hi all, My apologies for what I'm sure is probably quite a naive question. I'm modelling the oscillation modes of a Main Sequence A-type star and trying to understand which of these modes is likely to be observable. Of course, I restrict this to l = 0,1,2 for geometric cancellation reasons, but am t...

Re: Imaginary part of frequency for SBPs
Hi Rich,
Great, that has indeed fixed it!
Much appreciated.

Imaginary part of frequency for SBPs
Hi, I'm new to GYRE and am running through the relevant MESA summer school modules (here, Gautschy 2016, labelled "PLS1" in http://cococubed.asu.edu/mesa_market/ewExternalFiles/2016_gautschy.zip). I've updated the inlists as needed and am getting things to run properly, but I notice that all the ima...
