Research Centers & Collaborations

Many efforts in modern Astronomy require the efforts of large collaborations. The age of survey science, fully established with the advent of the SDSS, has brought together hundreds of astronomers to create effective teams to tackle the challenges presented by cataloguing literally millions of objects with high quality spectra. Similarly, the intersection of particle physics and astronomy brings with it the approach of teams of hundreds of researchers designing large experiments.

Many members of the Astronomy Department at UW-Madison are participating in a number of collaborative efforts, ranging from ongoing participation in the SDSS to the planning of the next generation of radio telescopes in the SKA.
