As an academic town, Madison is well suited to support sabbatical and long-term visitors. The city is family friendly, yet lively, and university life permeates throughout. The city is navigable by public transport and bicycle, while the outlying, more serene and even rural areas offer a quick car ride to campus. Chicago and Minneapolis are easily reached by car or bus.
